What MyCanadaOnline stores on your device, why, and how to control it.
This is the complete list. We do not use analytics or social-media tracking cookies.
| Name | Type | Purpose | Expires |
|---|---|---|---|
mco_session | First-party cookie | Keeps you signed in and protects forms against cross-site request forgery. | When you close your browser |
mco-notification | Browser storage | Remembers which notifications you have already seen. | Until you clear site data |
mco-gallery-view | Browser storage | Remembers whether you prefer the grid or slideshow photo layout. | Until you clear site data |
| Google advertising cookies | Third-party | Serving and measuring adverts, and limiting how often you see the same one. | Set by Google |
| Google consent record | Third-party | Remembers the advertising choice you made, so you are not asked repeatedly. | Set by Google |
The two browser-storage items are kept on your own device and are never sent to our servers.
mco_session is strictly necessary: without it you could not sign in and our forms could not be protected. It carries no advertising or tracking function, so it does not require consent.
Advertising cookies do require consent. If you are in the European Economic Area, the United Kingdom or Switzerland, you are asked before any is set, and nothing is set if you decline. You can change or withdraw that choice at any time using the privacy options link shown by the consent tool.
Outside those regions, you can still opt out of personalised advertising through Google Ads Settings or aboutads.info.
Every browser lets you block or delete cookies and clear site storage, usually under Settings then Privacy. Blocking mco_session will stop you from signing in, but the rest of the site will still work.
